Frequently Asked Questions
Turning Books In For Store Credit
- What kind of books will you take?
Books in good condition and ones we believe we can resell. Learn more here.
- Do I have to wait while you check in my books?
Yes. We might return some books to you or have questions about your books. It generally takes only a few minutes to check your books. However, if we are busy, we will let you know what to expect and make arrangements convenient to you.
- I have some really old books. Will you take them?
It depends on the condition of the books and whether we believe we can resell them. The best thing to do is to bring them by the store so we can take a look at them.
- Do you buy books for cash?
No, we offer store credit which can be used toward your purchase of used books. Please refer to the details regarding store credit here.
- How much will I get for my books?
Remember, we don’t pay cash for books. We award store credit up to 25% of the list price of your book.
- Can other people use my credit?
Absolutely! Just give us their name and we will put it on your Store Credit account.
- Is there a limit to the amount of store credit I can accumulate?
No. Remember, bringing books in for re-sale supports our store.
- I am moving away. Can I exchange my store credit for cash?
No. You can transfer your store credit to another person, however. Just let us know who.
- Do you ever close my store credit account?
Yes. If you haven’t used it in two full and consecutive years, your account is closed and you lose your store credit.
- Can I transfer my store credit to someone else?
Absolutely. Just let us know.
- I just cleaned out my home library and have over 100 books. Can I bring them all in at once?
It is best to bring in two bags or two boxes at a time. However, if you would like to bring them in all at once, please contact the store for an appointment.
Finding Books
- Do you have your books listed on-line?
Yes and no. We have our inventory of rare or unusual books listed both on our website and on www.biblio.com. We do not have our store inventory listed. Please call the store at 206-248-7248 or contact us via our online form to check on a book we may have in the store.
- If you don’t have an inventory, how can I find a book in your store?
We have our books organized by topic and then alphabetized by author. Sometimes it is unclear about the topic of a book or an author writes several types of books. In that case, it’s best to ask us to help you.
- I’m trying to find one book to complete a series. Can you order it for me if you don’t have it?
Yes. We order both used and new books. Please let us know what you are looking for so we can determine how to best serve you. Find more details on online ordering here.
- Barnes and Noble says my book is out of print. Can you help me?
Yes. Most retail book stores only keep their own inventory on record. We have access to thousands of used book store inventories and have a 100% success rate at finding unusual or rare books for our customers.
- Is there any other way I can find the book I am looking for?
Two ways:
- If we don’t have your book, we can put it on a Wish List. When it comes into the store, we will call you. There is no charge for this service.
- We have reciprocity with our local book stores and will gladly call them for you to see if they have your book.
Pricing
- How do you price your books?
We have six categories for pricing:- Generally our books are half the list price.
- Hardback fiction books are $6 each.
- Re-priced books have a small white sticker in the upper right corner
- Green tagged books are 40% off the list price and store credit cannot be used
- Pink tagged books are $10 each and store credit cannot be used
- Yellow tagged books are NEW BOOKS. They are 25% off the list price and store credit cannot be used.
Books will never be sold for less than $1.
- Why do you have some books that don’t qualify for store credit?
Several years ago we were faced with raising prices on all books or disqualifying a small percentage of our stock from store credit. Choosing this strategy gives customers more pricing options while solving our ‘bottom-line’ issues.
- Why are some books priced higher than their list price?
Used books often increase in value. This happens particularly in Science Fiction and Westerns where many authors are hard to find. It also happens when a book is listed below $1.
- What do you charge for ordering a book for me?
We charge the on-line price of the book plus shipping, a flat service fee of $4 for each book and tax. We do the best we can to find you the highest quality book at the lowest price. You will always know how much your book will be before we order it. Learn more here.
