During the month of April, there is a new nationwide program celebrating reading and diversity.
I love to read a variety of books and always encourage others to expand the types of books that they read.
"Books act like mirrors when they reflect our life experiences back to us. Books act like windows when they show us the lives of people who are different from us."
It is so important that we all read a variety of each type: windows and mirrors.
The Reading Without Walls program encourages us to:
1. Read a book about a character who doesn't look like you or live like you.
2. Read a book about a topic you don't know much about.
3. Read a book in a format that you don't normally read for fun.
Here are a few books that I've enjoyed reading recently.
